The Power of Creativity

Creativity is perhaps the single most powerful capacity we have to change and improve our lives and the lives of others. It is not a talent we are born with or without. It is the conscious decision to step beyond convention into a world of possibility and empowerment. It is an action, a rebellion, and a celebration. When we make creativity more central to our lives it brings with it lessons of authenticity, appreciation, connection, determination, and bravery.

Have you ever wondered why people faced with similar experiences respond in such dramatically different ways? It’s the question that first sparked my interest in psychology and set me on a course of becoming a counselor. People are made up of a complex weaving of external factors (circumstances, cultural background, family narratives, historical experiences, current access to resources and support, etc.) and internal forces (personal narratives, passions, gifts, strengths, beliefs, etc.) that the answer really is entirely unique to each person.
